I have been monitoring HCG and this morning was the first time the test line was darker and the control line was lighter. Do you know why this happened?
It doesn’t mean anything in particular about your pregnancy. Different tests will have different sensitivities but they’re not a super precise tool, they can only tell you if there’s HCG present, and for you there definitely is! But it’s not telling you anything else about the viability of the pregnancy. A blood test and eventually an ultrasound will tell you more. But you really don’t need to keep doing home tests. You’re pregnant! Congrats!

The test line gets darker than the control line when the HCG has risen higher and higher. It's called a dye stealer, as there is so much HCG that the test line is pulling more dye than the control. It's a great sign that HCG is rising!
