Welcome to Stony Brook University's Doctor in Physical Therapy Program at both the Stony Brook and Southampton Campuses

Stony Brook's Physical Therapy Program enjoys a rich history spanning almost 50 years and 1900 graduates. The program develops leaders of the profession who demonstrate evidence-based practice, critical inquiry and clinical decision-making skills needed for autonomous practice. Our graduates are prepared to provide direct patient care in a multitude of physical therapy settings as well as to pursue careers in research, administration, or education.   • As of 2023, we provide a program of individualized student preparation for the National Physical Therapy Exam for licensure.
  • So far this year, 88% of students who graduated in 2024 and have taken the National Physical Therapy Exam have passed it on their first attempt.
