Best way to put a badge on straight???

Gonna replace my faded S4 Badge on the trunk. Wanna know a few things. 1. Best way to take old badge off 2. Best way to take off any residual glue/sticky stuff 3. Best place to put new badge.... (I'll probably put it back in the same spot) 4. Best way to get the badge on straight..... This will be difficult for me.... Yeah, I got problems, kids Thank you in advance

    Hair dryer, fishing line, goo gone. Search for further info.

    Use painters tape to mark the location before you remove.

    Try PMing user 'KNaudi'. I know he had a thread like this a few months ago. IIRC, he had someone measure their badgle placement vertically from the bottom of the trunk to the bottom corner of the badge as well as laterally from the side of the trunk to the other side of the badge. That would ensure straight and accurate placement.

    As far as removal goes, do what B-Time said. That will get it off relatively painlessly.

    2. Best way to take off any residual glue/sticky stuff, use goo gone, 3m adhesive remover, akrosol
    3. Best place to put new badge.... (I'll probably put it back in the same spot), original spot
    4. Best way to get the badge on straight..... This will be difficult for me.... Yeah, I got problems, kids, take your time have someone look at it from far as you are putting it on also.

    You don't need a fucking ruler. Vertically the bottom edge of the badge lines up with the bottom of the reverse light. Horizontally the left most corner of the badge lines up with the edge of the lower crease in the trunk.

    Yeah i cant say anything more that hasn't been said but if the current badge is already straight, just outline it with painters tape like B-time said and you should have no problem unless you get a different badge

    lines up horizontally with the reverse light outer lines (where red turns to clear) and vertically with the left corner of the badge lining up with the end of the little indentation that runs across the bottom of the trunk.

    New badge is just a tad bigger than the OEM. Other than that its the exact 2000 badge.

    if you're super anal like I am, you want a ruler and some painters tape. Its something to live with everyday and therefore just eyeballing it wasn't going to cut it.

    as far as badge removal, be very patient and use tons of goo gone. after being on our paint for 9-11 years, these things will leave marks that need massaging to get off. heat, dental floss, repeat until badge is off. Soak in goo gone, scrape with finger nail, repeat for about an hour until all stickyness is gone. You will probably have to wash the area and use goo gone repeatedly to get the outline of the badge off (I guess this is moot if you're putting a new badge back on).

    I used the painters tape method when I did mine. Make sure you line it up right!
