Opinions on rear window louvers? Also how do they install?
Saw this at a local salvage yard a couple times. More I see it, the more I like it. So how does it install? Theres some sort of hinged tabs at the top. Do they fit between the roof and the glass? Also, is the only other thing that holds it down the aluminum window trim?
Theres also a hinged bar...

Theres also a hinged bar I think on the right panel. Whats this do and where does it attach?
Whats Nastyz28's overall feeling on them? I think they look cool but didnt know if they make any problems arise or if its hard to drive with it on there

yeah, the trim holds them on. i have a set and like them!!! make sure the latches at the bottom corners are good...
I've had them on both Camaros that i have owned, the pro's are- keeps car cooler, offers a little bit of privacy and i always liked how they looked. The cons- the louvers trap all kinds of garbage in between the louvers and the back windows like leaves and dirt, and it is a PITA to clean, leave them on long enough and they will scratch the rear window. They do not hinder your rear view when driving. I had them on my 79 Z until i restored it, then left it off.

Whats really a crying shame is that this car appears to have been working just fine when it was put in here. Its dated 7/12/07 and theres almost no rust on the rotors, engine was running, b/c it was marked as having been bought the day it was put in there. Whats really sad is that this thing was in much better shape than my camaro is, and Ive had it for 4 months or so

I might swing by tomorrow and pick them up.
I just wonder how much itll cost, b.c I really gotta start focusing only on getting it running, but I cant pass up a good deal when I see one
I got an 85 mph z28 cluster and a good set of sail panels from this very same car for $40 just the other day

Those look like the louvers I bought from JC Whitney back in the day... IIRC, they rattled a little, but kept the car cooler inside. Personally, I wish I had waited and found a set of the wrap-around louvers instead of the 3-piece appearance of these...
The fact that these have a hinge is good as the louvres can flip up so you can clean the rear glass. Louvres were the rage back in the '70's and '80's and tons of aftermarket companies sold them.
I like 'em but it depends on what car they're going on. Camaroish body styles or the Mustang fastbacks offer a great platform for louvres but the square sedans like the Fox-body Mustangs didn't look good with them. Like others said, make sure the anchor points are good as louvres have been known to leave their host . . .
If you buy them, there should be a brand name stamped somewhere. Email or call the manufacturer and see if there's an installation kit still available.

Aint got time for that. Just got off the metrolink from school at a college I dont even go to. Changed, used the facilities, and now Im just checking email quickly before I go over to Speedway.
I keep a salvage yard kit in my trunk thats got enough tools to handle anything somebody like me would need

Be careful pulling the top tabs on the center section. easy to bend if not careful....
