Yes! Bisquick is vegan. Bisquick Original Pancake & Baking Mix is dairy-free and egg-free, making it naturally vegan. This recipe calls for the Original Bisquick Mix. However, the Gluten-Free Bisquick Mix is also vegan if you want to make gluten-free and vegan pancakes with Bisquick. That's fine too!
Be aware that not all Bisquick mixes are vegan, though. Make sure you get the right kind. The Buttermilk, Heart Healthy, and Flavor-Bursting Bisquick Mixes are not vegan because they contain small amounts of dairy, specifically in the whey they contain.
If you buy the original or gluten-free Bisquick mix, you are good to go!
Ingredients
I wasn't kidding, these pancakes are EASY. You only need 5 simple ingredients.
- Original Bisquick Mix - Use Original Bisquick Pancake & Baking Mix for this recipe. It's dairy-free and vegan and easy to find in most grocery stores in a yellow box.
- Coconut Sugar - A few tablespoons of sugar will sweeten the pancakes slightly. You can omit this if you want sugar-free pancakes. You can use any vegan granulated sugar in place of coconut sugar if you prefer.
- Baking Powder - This gives the pancakes their super fluffy texture!
- Plant Milk - I recommend using unsweetened plant milk such as almond milk, oat milk, or cashew milk. For sweeter pancakes, you can use sweetened plant milk.
- Vanilla Extract - A splash of vanilla adds a rich, well-rounded flavor.

How To Make Bisquick Pancakes Without Eggs
You only need one bowl and a whisk to make these pancakes. That's it!
STEP 1: Add the dry ingredients to a large mixing bowl.
STEP 2: Whisk together the dry ingredients until they are evenly combined and there are no large clumps remaining. Small clumps are okay!
STEP 3: Add the plant milk and vanilla extra to the bowl.
STEP 4: Gently stir the mixture until the ingredients are just combined. Do not over mix the batter. It's completely fine to see a few specks of dry ingredients throughout the batter.
STEP 5: Grease an electric skillet or frying pan with non-stick cooking spray or vegan butter. Heat over low-medium heat, about 325-350 F.
STEP 6: Use a ¼ cup measuring scoop to pour the pancake batter onto the preheated griddle. Make sure the pancakes have a couple inches of space between them so you can flip them easily. You can use the back of a spoon to shape the pancakes into perfectly round circles if you desire.
STEP 7: Cook each pancake for 2-3 minutes or until the edges become firm and small bubbles form on the surface. Use a large spatula to flip the pancakes and cook them on the other side for another 1-3 minutes. They should have a golden exterior.
STEP 8: Repeat the process until all the pancake batter has been used. Once finished, transfer the pancakes to a serving plate and add your favorite toppings.
TIP: Remember to grease the pan after each batch of pancakes comes off. A spray of non-stick cooking spray will do. You don't want the batter to get stuck to the pan!
Delicious Pancake Toppings & Mix-Ins
One of the best things about these pancakes is how versatile they are! They have a delicious, subtle vanilla flavor that pairs wonderfully with so many toppings. Here are some ideas:
- Fresh Berries - Blueberries are personally one of my favorite toppings for pancakes, but you can use raspberries, blackberries, or strawberries, too! You can mix fresh berries into the batter if you cut them in half first.
- Coconut Whipped Cream - Any dairy-free whipped cream is delicious on top of a stack of these vegan pancakes.
- Pure Maple Syrup - A drizzle of pure maple syrup adds the perfect amount of sweetness to this breakfast and takes the flavors to the next level.
- Sliced Banana - If berries aren't your thing, adding some banana slices on top of the pancakes is a great way to add extra flavor. You can also mix chopped bananas into the pancake batter before cooking.
- Chopped Nuts - Chopped pecans and walnuts are great to mix into the pancake batter or add on top of the finished stack, perhaps with some banana slices or whipped cream.
- Vegan Chocolate Chips - Mini chocolate chips are PERFECT for mixing into the pancake batter, or you can sprinkle some on top! I love using dairy-free semi-sweet and dark chocolate chips.
- Peanut Butter - Adding a drizzle of peanut butter (I recommend natural, creamy peanut butter) adds extra protein and a delicious flavor to Bisquick pancakes. You can stir a few tablespoons of peanut butter into the batter to make peanut butter Bisquick pancakes.
- Fruit Compote - Heat fruit or berries on the stove with maple syrup or coconut sugar to create a delicious compote to spread on top of the pancakes.
- Cinnamon & Spices - Mix a teaspoon of ground cinnamon or nutmeg into the pancake batter for fall spice pancakes, or add a dash on top!
- Lemon Extract - Add a teaspoon of lemon extract for citrus-flavored pancakes.
If you're looking for another delicious flavor, try these vegan chocolate protein pancakes sometime. They are wonderful!
Expert Baking Tips
- Don't Pack The Bisquick Mix - When you measure the Bisquick, don't scoop the measuring cup directly into the Bisquick. Use a spoon to sprinkle the mix into the cup and level the top with a knife to avoid over measuring.
- Don't Over-Mix The Batter - You don't need to be aggressive or mix for a long time. Fold the batter together until the ingredients are just combined.
- Let The Batter Rest - The longer the batter sits before cooking, the thicker and fluffier the pancakes will be. Letting the batter rest allows it to absorb the liquid.
- Cook Over Low-Medium Heat - Don't burn your pancakes! Cook them over low-medium heat rather than scorching them on high heat.
- Grease The Pan - Make sure you spray the griddle with non-stick cooking spray or use vegan butter to coat the pan. This prevents the pancakes from sticking or tearing. It also helps to brown the edges.
- Use A Measuring Cup - Use a ¼ cup measuring cup to drop the batter onto the griddle for evenly sized pancakes. This makes it easier!
