Can You Paint Carbon Fiber Body Parts?
I was thinking of getting a Carbon fiber hood for my 93. I love the durability of carbon fiber, but I don't like the contrast of carbon fiber on a white paint job... I was just wondering if anyone would know wheather you can paint the carbon fiber hoods.
- thanks

Yes, CF can be painted just like fiberglass. CF looks cool, so people often leave it unpainted by choice, but there is no reason you can't paint it.

so... don't most CF hoods come with a clear coat already on it... won't that affect the painting process?

just sand it lightly with a high grit wet dry paper to get a proper foot for your primmer to hold to then paint as normal

yeah of course you can paint cf. just prep it and then paint it. then you get the light wieght on cf and it still matches your car so that you have a sleeper look going on

Yeah, you can paint it. Of course, it has to be prepped, just like any other body part you are going to paint..
Good choice on painting it. I think it looks very silly on a white car (or any color car for that matter).
