Anyone regret getting a Short throw shifter? compared to stock?
Just wondering if anyone ever regretted getting a short throw shifter replacing their stock one. I know in most cases if you spend money you BETTER be happy with it, but i was hoping to get some honest opinions here, like if you would do it again if you could start over.
I really like how my stock one feels.. but I had 2 cars before that changed drastically how the car shifted gears when i got a short throw shifter..
but my latest car was a T-56 cobra transmission and i got a 200 dollar shifter on that and it had almost NO change from stock shifter, the 2 cars that did show change was a T-45 (90's mustang transmission) and a T3650 (2002+ Mustang transmission)
the shifter i had in mind was a Mugen Quick Shifter, i was also going to order it from here:

can someone give me some reassurance on that this will be a good investment? because so far the stock shifter feels kinda solid to me.. it just clicks into gear like a toy, will the mugen shifter give the same effect? maybe an enhanced version of it?

I have the t1r one and loved it from the start! The stock shifter is good but getting a quick/ short shifter makes it so much better. Personally I think the mugen one is over priced when compared to other companies.

I've had the Mugen in for a couple of months and it's not that much different from stock. It's easy to put in though. The thing that made the biggest difference for me was a weighted shift knob.

Hey, your ride looks nice in your post above, but it's obviously small. Post some actual large pics of your MR Fit would be nice... would like to see it better.
If you've already posted pics of your ride then please, point me to the thread. In which case I obviously missed your photo thread when you originally posted it.

I've had the T1R shifter for the better half of a year now with no complaints. It's a great quality unit with a dramatically shorter throw. Match it up with a weighted shift knob (i'm running 480g.) and you're good to go.

Absolutely no regrets with the T1R piece on my GD. Installation wasn't as easy as with a Mugen, but taking apart the stock shifter isn't hard at all.
Although I will agree with others have said it - if you're interested in less "toy-like" shift quality, a slightly heavier shift knob will do that for you. So try one out first, see what you think. I was amazed at the difference (and then proceeded to get a short-shift in addition to it ).

The short shifter is a good thing because it reduces leverage and you are less likely to bend or beak a shifting fork.... The weighted knobs feel nice but increases inertia putting more strain on the shifting forks.... I suppose that combining the two wouldn't be a negative thing.... After having to drive around in a 15 year old truck for the last two weeks I am really looking forwards to driving the Fit with the stock shifter... I might change it to something quicker if one can be found and a very reduced price.

Doesn't the new shifter sit too low to be comfortable because the stock shifter already sits kind of low. Mugen says that the height is reduced by 25mm. That seems alot

got the Hfit adapter, the only downside was that it was a little tough to install but works perfectly. Great inexpensive option. I would say a weighted shift knob+short shift is one of the best things to improve driving enjoyment

I have the T1R. I am very happy with it...the action of the shifter is still low effort even with the stock knob, which was also a concern to me - I always loved the easy "arcade game" feel of the shifter.

I've had the Mugen shifter for a few months now and have never regretted it. It's a high initial cost (vs. some of the others), but it's a 15 minutes install, is very crisp, and if you figure how much it costs over the life of the vehicle (assuming you keep it for a while), it's a small cost overall.

I got the T1R shifter for 80 bucks so no regrets here =]. Just initially I was shifting faster than I usually clutch and gas so shifts felt a little clunky. But I just got used to shifting slower so my feet could keep up. lol
